Sample Receiving Intern

What I liked

I learned a lot of administrative information about a private lab, the sample receiving, sample tracking, input and chain of custody monitoring, along with mail room duties were experiences I took a lot from. I also dealt a lot with radon sample management.

What I wish was different

I wish I got more lateral movement throughout different labs so I could get more experience.

Advice

Definitely understand your worth as an intern, you mean a lot more to the company than you think.

What I liked

I liked all the people I worked with. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. They were always willing to help out if I had questions.

What I wish was different

There was not really anything that I wish had been different. The only thing I did not like was how long the commute was, but that is really out of anyone's control.

Advice

I would say, don't be afraid to ask for help. It is always better to ask for help initially than to find out you made a mistake from the people in the lab because then you have to start again anyway.

Laboratory technician intern

What I liked

I liked how all of my coworkers worked well together in one space. Since it was at the headquarters I was able to meet a lot of higher up people within the company itself. I learned a lot that will help me in my field of biology.

What I wish was different

I wish more samples would have came in

Advice

This was a great internship for learning. It was my first time working in a lab and I ended up doing really well. I was not thinking about pursuing a career involving lab work but now that may change.
