eBay Seller

What I liked
I like being able to set my own hours and not having to deal with someone higher up. It's nice to be able to do things on your own schedule and when you have time to get to it.
What I wish was different
The challenge is also having to make all the executive decisions and trying to do what is best. I wish the system was better set up so sellers have more protection.

Efficient Work culture. The scope for Machine Learning / Data Scientists is huge. The people are very warm and helpful. My manager was very supportive and my mentor guided me in the right direction. Hence, this enabled me to create an impact in a small amount of time. I learned a lot and also made many friends. The time during my internship is one of the most productive phases of my life.

Software Engineer Intern

What I liked
Work at eBay is very fast paced. eBay has projects which focus on state of the art solutions to their current challenges. I have learned a lot of new things during my internship. Manager and Mentor took a lot of care to keep me at ease and guided me on a lot of things which helped me in delivering my projects.
What I wish was different
I wish I had more time to work on many other projects which could have helped me to understand how eBay operates in entirety.
Advice
Interns are given a lot of care at eBay. Make complete use of the internship to learn how things work in a Multi Billion dollar tech company. Take time to network with fellow interns. The University Recruiting team conducts many intern events throughout the internship. It is the best time to have fun and also network with people around you.

What I liked
eBay Inc. has an incredible culture. It's a company driven by a mission and everyone around eBay understands that their roles are pivotal to changing lives. The university recruiting team made our transition super smooth and a week in we could already feel like home. It was by far my best experience.
What I wish was different
I wish the internship was longer, 10 weeks flew by, but I guess that's what happens when you are having too much fun.
Advice
Do not hesitate to ask questions and become close to your teammates. Work is so much better when you are friends with your team. Also, if you are lucky with the opportunity to intern for eBay, make sure you participate in all of their University Recruiting events, they are AMAZING.

Software Developer Intern
May - August 2018 • San Jose, CA
What I liked
I had a chance to use my programming skills at a larger scale. I also learned a lot of best professional programming practices from my mentor during the internship. Most of the practice I currently use to ace my programming projects in my classes.
What I wish was different
I wish I had worked with a medium or large team. I'd love to experience the synergy and conflict of working with a team at a large tech company.
Advice
My advice would be to have an open mind about the assigned project or assigned team. There's always something to learn from an experienced professional. However, stay true to what drives and inspire you. Don't forfeit your interest for anything else.

What I liked
I loved my team and my work. Thats the most important part and they were both amazing, fulfilling, and challenging.
What I wish was different
Their were a bunch of layoff at the beginning of the summer which sucked. Also, ebay design movs super slow and everyone is nervous to change things (some parts of the site still look like they did 5 years ago). The company itself was a 7/10.
Advice
Work on what you want to work on or don't join.

What I liked
My program had 150 other interns and I loved being apart of an intern program. I got to work on a project with 4 other interns from different departments including Finance, engineering and IT. I learned so much from working on this team and we even got to present our project to the CEO of eBay which was also a highlight from my internship,
What I wish was different
As much as I liked working at HQ in San Jose I wish I got to explore a new area this summer like SF or Seattle

Network as much as you can. Do not wait for someone to come and approach you with work. Introduce yourself to everyone on your team and learn about their position at the company and don’t be afraid to reach out to people in different departments if there is something you’re interested in, there is opportunity everywhere and people want to help!
