The Main Responsibilities

Lumen’s Strategic Planning and Transformation organization is looking for a Software Developer intern to join our Service Fulfillment and Inventory team. This team is positioned within our Public Sector group and provides development work to understand product requirements, build solutions and deliver enhancements by working with automation to deliver Public Sector solutions. Some project work will be in Microsoft Azure but mainly within the Lumen environment. 
 

What We Look For in a Candidate

•   Education Requirements 
o   Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior or master’s level education status at the start of the internship, graduating August 2023 – June 2024.
o   Major/Degree: In pursuit of degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar technical degree field.
•   Proficiency and understanding of; 
o   Understand the requirements of each task and discuss the approach with more senior members of the team. 
o   Preferred: Excellent writing and communications skills, Ability to take direction with an eagerness to learn, Good team and collaboration skills 
Technical Skills Preferred:  TypeScript, JavaScript, Node JS, Postgres DB, Mongo DB, Azure Cloud, Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, Github 
•   Professional Attributes 
o   Strong drive for results and taking initiative
o   Ability to be resourceful and adaptable
o   Ability to collaborate and have agility while making effective decisions
o   Strong written and verbal communication skills
o   Ability to interact with business partners and drive the conversation.

o   Detailed oriented – able to clearly and accurately express technical details in an understandable format
o   Eager to learn – Technology is constantly changing, and having the drive to learn new technology and apply it is essential to success

o   Problem-Solver – you will need to be able to analyze a situation and make recommendations for resolutions, sometimes these answers are not obvious
•   Work Setting
o   This position is remote/ work from home. 
o   Intern must be able to work 30-40 hours be week during the 10-week program (June – August)
o   Intern must have reliable transportation to/from work location (Lumen does not provide transportation to/from Lumen office locations)
