GENERAL SUMMARY:
Snider Hockey is a nationally acclaimed non-profit that uses the sport of hockey to educate and empower under-resourced youth of Philadelphia to prosper in the game of life. Evidence-based outcomes are young citizens who:
- Achieve academic success as they matriculate from Crayons through College;
- Consistently make healthy and thoughtful life choices;
- Serve as positive role models to the next generation of Snider Hockey student-athletes;
- Realize gainful and rewarding employment; and
- Give back to their community.
The Development Assistant will join their colleagues on the Development Team as they work to support and advance Snider Hockey’s mission in four important ways: (1) Securing financial and in-kind support from individual, foundation, corporate, and government sources; (2) Keeping stakeholders – including and especially existing supporters – engaged with and excited about Snider Hockey; (3) identifying and engaging potential new supporters; and (4) fostering and maintaining positive relationships with individuals at partnering organizations, funding organizations, and throughout the Snider Hockey Team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree. Recent college graduates are preferred, opportunity for full-time position following
- Must pass the Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check, FBI Criminal Background Check, and Comprehensive Screening Solutions Background Check
- Personal:
- Must be a person of deep integrity, and must exercise strong discretion and confidence regarding treatment of constituent information.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical.

- Strong organizational skills are essential, as is keen attention to detail.

- Technical:
- Proficiency with Internet-based research is essential
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is essential.
- Familiarity with social media applications is helpful.
- Familiarity with graphic design and e-marketing basics (knowledge of Constant Contact, Canva, Adobe Suite, Salesforce) is helpful.
- Other:
- Ability to travel to locations around the Greater Philadelphia area.
- General knowledge of ice hockey is helpful, but not mandatory.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Ticket coordination and suite hospitality; includes:
- Organize all premium ticket sales received in appropriate electronic file folders (ongoing throughout the year)
- Assist with tracking donors’ use of suite rental in the Wells Fargo Center
- Assist with tracking Snider Hockey suite ticket sales on secondary ticket market
- Assist with tracking Snider Hockey’s year-long online auction, coordinating ticket delivery and auction experiences
- Serve as lead Snider Hockey Suite Hospitality Attendant
- Donor engagement support, includes:
- Research individual donor and corporation prospects
- Assist with the donor acknowledgement process
- Assist with Salesforce data analysis and reporting
- Help prepare materials for ongoing donor appeals
- Assist with mailing of donor appeals
- Assist with the creation of monthly e-newsletters and other publications to keep stakeholders apprised of the latest Snider Hockey news and activities.
- Special event support; includes:
- Work with vendors to produce promotional materials (e.g., posters, banners, framed photos).
- Assist with creation of event marketing and social media collateral (e.g., Save the Date graphics, rack cards, website updates, etc.)
- Research and price potential venues and vendors
- Research corporate sponsorship opportunities for major fundraiser events
- Assist with coordination of auction item packages and fulfillment
- Assist in event set-up, take-down, and other at-event tasks
- Grant support; includes:
- Perform internet- and library-based research as assigned
- Organize grant and donor files and documents
- Awareness support; includes:
- Lead Flyers Game Night Table Efforts
- Schedule Game Night interns during Flyers games
- Serve as lead ambassador at Game Night Table during Flyers games
- General administration support, includes:
- Maintaining office inventory and ordering supplies
- Scheduling meetings
- Assembling hard-copy information packets
- Mailing packages

Intellectual and Social Demands:
While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits. The position requires constant attention to precise details and specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than three steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time.
Physical Demands:
While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office devices such as telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc. Occasionally moves about inside office space to access storage areas, cabinets, and office machinery. Occasionally walks to different areas of the Wells Fargo Center to make deliveries and pick-ups. Occasionally does local travel in support of work-related projects.
Work Environment:
The essential responsibilities of this position are performed indoors, mainly in an office setting but including occasional visits to ice hockey rinks and special event sites (indoor/outdoor in the weather conditions prevalent at the time). The noise level in the work environments can range from moderate to loud during events/programs, and is minimal during non-event/program times.
Schedule:
Most work is completed during weekday morning and afternoon hours. Occasional night and/or weekend duties in the Greater Philadelphia area are required.
