Production Jobs - Opener, Production Operator, Meat Cutter, Machine Operator

Opener:  Openers open meat and feed the production lines. Openers also shovel meat from a metal tub to a combo and need to lift 50-75 pounds consistently. Must be able to work in cold, wet environment, and work as a team player.
 
Production Operator: Follow all production procedures as instructed, maintaining high production numbers to meet customer orders while working with a team. Responsible for manually packing fresh and frozen product into individual packaging and boxes, then stacking them onto pallets while maintaining safety standards. The job of the packer may also include moving and keeping track of pallets of product throughout the floor. 
 
      Duties: 
  • Must be able to manually pack fresh and frozen products while tracking quantity to meet orders corresponding with customer’s purchases.
  • Understand the finished product and constantly preforming visual inspections for quality. Looking for defects, expirations dates, and any other imperfections with packaging or product and then taking appropriate actions to communicate and rectify them.
  • Ability to rotate to other packing positions around the plant to ensure productivity and demand.
  • Follow all standard operation procedures, company policies and provincial and federal safety guidelines.
  • Other duties shall be assigned as required.
  • Work effectively as part of a team to ensure productivity and efficiency.
  • Participate in training and cross training, and help coworkers as needed.
  • Follow all Safety requirements including, housekeeping, LO/TO, Confined Space, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and engage in facility safety efforts.
  • Participate in the improvement of product, services, and processes.
Related Experience/Requirements
  • 1 year experience in production or packing (Preferred).
  • Complete all orientation training.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 Lbs. from the floor.
  • Working in cold and wet environment.

Meat Cutter - Job Description: Take un-portioned pieces of meat and perform the proper cuts as instructed.
Duties:
  • Skillfully and efficiently cut meat into smaller size portions, according to customer specifications and meet company standards. Must have a knowledge of different pieces of meat to determine cuts.
  • Maintain quality of service by following operational and safety standards.
  • Able to stand 10 hours per. Able to work quickly and efficiently. Ability to work in refrigerated work environment of 35°F – 45°F.
  • Adhere to the standards of quality and yields of the meat.
  • Clean, maintain, assemble and disassemble equipment as needed. Assist in cleanliness of general work area by preforming general housekeeping.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
  • Follow all standard operation procedures, company policies and provincial and federal safety guidelines. Work effectively as part of a team to ensure productivity and efficiency. Participate in training and cross training, and help coworkers as needed.
Related Experience/Requirements
  • Knife Skills/Butchery skills, or experience in food production.
  • Understanding of the different cuts and types of meat
  • Basic Math
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Job requires workers to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to: step, climb, balance, squat, kneel, bend and reach above shoulders as needed.
 
Machine Operator: Ensure that production machines are running and operating correctly, including meeting product spec and portion control. Involved in startup and break down of machines.
Duties:
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work. Operating equipment such as a saw to preform proper cuts of meat as demanded by customer. 
  • Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation on multiple pieces of equipment. Operate/monitor multiple pieces of equipment during operation to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops.
  • Communicate with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials. Preform regular housekeeping and preform visual inspections of work station looking for unsafe work practices and defective product.
  • Follow all standard operation procedures, company policies and provincial and federal safety guidelines. Work effectively as part of a team to ensure productivity and efficiency. Participate in training and cross training, and help coworkers as needed.
