Probation Officers - Apply by June 7

It is anticipated that the Probation Officer exam will be posted in May. Interested parties should monitor www.njcourts.gov for the posting. The minimum requirement for the position is a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in any area, which includes or is supplemented by 24 credit hours in the behavioral or social sciences. The starting salary is $47,547.12, plus benefits.

Probation Officers are professional level positions performing a wide variety of functions to assist probationers and the court. Probation Officers can be assigned to adult supervision, juvenile supervision, child support enforcement, drug court, the Criminal Division and the Family Division. Job duties can include: case management, pre-disposition and intake functions; preparing reports for the court; monitoring and enforcing conditions of probation and/or court orders; referring clients to treatment programs, and/or therapeutic placements; arranging referrals to appropriate agencies; and, making recommendations to the court.
