Salary Information*
Minimum Salary: $43,156.32
Maximum Salary A: $68,025.81
Maximum Salary B: $64,624.52

Travel within the tri-county vicinage will be required.
This position may be reassigned to another county within the vicinage.

Note: This position may qualify for remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, you will be required to have high speed home internet access. This program does not supersede the "New Jersey First Act", which requires newly hired Judiciary employees to establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. 
Example of Duties
Vicinage 15 (Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem Counties) is seeking a conscientious, organized, creative thinker with excellent reasoning, self-management, technology application, interpersonal, teamwork and leadership skills to support the administrative functions of the Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Office and the Office of the Ombudsman in a three-county vicinage. The functions the position supports include, but are not limited to: implementation of the EEO/AA Masterplan and the Judiciary Policy Statement on Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action and Anti-Discrimination; community outreach, education and engagement; coordinating recruitment events and monitoring hiring practices; coordinating and assist with trainings, community seminars and outreach events; coordinating publicity for events and drafting press releases and marketing plans; maintaining files and databases; staffing the Vicinage EEO/AA Advisory Committee and the Committee on Diversity, Inclusion and Community Engagement. The selected candidate will participate and support large scale initiatives, and other related duties, as needed. The ideal candidate must possess excellent speaking and writing skills, the ability to work independently, adhere to deadlines, show attention to detail and accuracy, maintain confidentiality and understand the Judiciary’s mission, functions and organization. The candidate must have the ability to work on multiple assignments, while ensuring effective time management and prioritization of the same, while also participating as a positive member of a professional team. The successful candidate will work closely with managers, supervisors, staff, community partners, court users and volunteers.
 
The successful candidate will maintain, compile, edit and analyze data for reports and databases; work closely with staff from multiple divisions; provide information to and consult with internal and external clients; coordinate and schedule meetings, seminars, and events; draft, edit and correct errors in letters, articles and other documents; establish and maintain record keeping and tracking systems; maintain security and confidentiality of records, equipment and computer access.

The ability to work with Zoom and the Microsoft suite (Teams, Teams Live, Excel, Power Point, Word, Forms, Stream, etc.) is preferred. 
 
Additional Responsibilities:
  • handling correspondence and mailings
  • answering and screening telephone calls and/or visitors
  • assisting in the implementation of policies and procedures
  • composing routine and non-routine correspondence
  • creating meeting agendas, minutes, reports, manuals, etc.
  • establishing and maintaining records and electronic file plans
  • managing the gathering and reporting of statistics
  • preparing, analyzing, and reviewing statistical reports
  • providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers
  • performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
Three (3) years of experience in an office environment performing a variety of clerical and support services to include keyboarding and one or more of the following: document or information processing, handling payments for fees, recording monies received, reconciling balances or accounts and/or scheduling meetings or appointments.
 
Testing: Applicants selected to interview must pass an appointing authority administered examination to demonstrate keyboarding skills at the Judiciary standard of at least 25 words per minute, or must have otherwise demonstrated this competency as detailed below.

The appointing authority administered examination is waived for the following applicants who have been deemed to possess keyboarding skills at the Judiciary standard of 25 words per minute:
  • All applicants who possess a current typing proficiency certification issued by the New Jersey Civil Service Commission or the New Jersey Judiciary.
  • Judiciary staff that have permanent status in a career service title requiring a keyboarding, typing or stenography test.
  • Judiciary staff in unclassified titles requiring a keyboarding, typing or stenography test.
Supplemental Information
Driver's License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.

Special Note: Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting. All data received will be kept in strict confidence except to inform the individual of the findings and what action will be taken as a result of this information.

Residency Law: Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), also known as the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.

*Minimum Salary Note: For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater.

*Maximum Salary Note: Maximum Salary A is for Judiciary employees hired prior to June 3, 2014 and Maximum Salary B is for newly hired individuals or Judiciary employees hired on or after June 3, 2014.
