Junior Internal Auditor

Equitable Audit Services (EAS) conducts audits and reports the results of our work to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors. We provide independent, objective assurance and consulting services delivered through a highly competent and diverse team. As a business partner, EAS helps the Company accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes.
EAS has an opening for an Internal Auditor. The Internal Auditor will be responsible for executing Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) control design and operating effectiveness testing across the Company, on behalf of management. In addition, the Lead associate will also perform point in time audits and advisory engagements. Candidates are expected to be able to work in a fast-paced environment and have a commitment to high quality, timely results.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Performs SOX testing and effectively identifies and escalates testing exceptions.
  • Identifies opportunities for improving the control environment, including enhancements to process narratives.
  • Executes timely planning and execution of an assigned audits and advisory work.
  • Ensures documentation and reporting is ready for review by managers and senior managers.
  • Develops and maintains strong business relationships within EAS and across the Company.
  • Ensures audit services are risk-based and executed according to EAS policies and procedures.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree
  • 1+ years of audit or risk related experience executing audits and Sarbanes Oxley control testing. Experience can include public accounting, internal audit and/or working within a Controllership or Regulatory Reporting function, within industry, with exposure to SEC reporting. 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and understanding of audit and risk methodologies and supporting tools.
  • Experience at an insurance company, financial institution or accounting firm.
  • Interest in obtaining and/or process of completing certification in one or more of the following: CPA, CIA, CISA. 
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting topics.
  • Demonstrated understanding of general ledger and subledger processes and systems.
  • Developed organizational, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills.
  • Proven verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Understanding of statistical sampling, testing and the interpretation of results.
  • Technology skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration and adaptability are important.
  • Ability to execute in a fast-paced, high-demand, environment while balancing multiple priorities.
  • Solid problem-solving skills.
  • Established analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Job Expectations - Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
