Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited was established through the merger of The Sumitomo Trust and Banking Co, Ltd. with Chuo Mitsui Trust and Banking, Ltd. on April 1, 2012. Department Overview:

The Americas Division (“AD”) was established in the Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited, New York Branch) (“SMTBNY”) to perform corporate functions and supervise U.S. entities. Established under the AD are the “Global Banking Unit (“GBU”), Americas Division” and “Global Markets Unit (“GMU”), Americas Division” which performs business functions. The Controllers Department (“CTR”) provides financial reporting to the Branch Management, the Head Office and Regulatory Authorities. Controllers are also responsible for the reconciliation of all Nostro accounts and other positions and US tax related matters.

Position Overview:

Follows established guidelines for day-to-day, routine operational and administrative work. May be required to use some independent thought to handle complex issues. Focus on execution within defined parameters, some expansion based on developing capabilities or experiences in conjunction with experienced staff. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Prepares daily Bond / Nostro reconciliation using ATLAS download and external information.
  2. Prepares reports to control/monitor ATLAS G/L movement.
  3. Prepare regulatory reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  4. Prepares monthly management information on Reconciliation.
  5. Collects and files Bank's Financial / Regulatory / Tax Record in an orderly manner.
  6. Assists in regulatory report production improvement.
  7. Documents report preparation procedure.
  8. Prepares reports for external auditors / examiners as necessary.
  9. Performs other duties and responsibilities required by management.
 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent knowledge of 2+ years of relevant experience.
  2. Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  3. Good mathematical aptitude.
  4. Good attention to detail.
