Public Accounting Intern
Individual at this level normally have a basic understanding of accounting, bookkeeping, or tax preparation, and are currently pursuing a college degree with either a major in accounting or equivalent accounting and business courses.
Accounting interns are expected to:
- Become familiar with the firm's policies and procedures.
- Tax preparation for businesses and individuals
- Accounting and Audit work under direct supervision of Partners, Managers and Staff Accountants
- Assist the firm’s professional staff in performing controllership and bookkeeping services for clients.
- Assist the firm’s professional staff in entering data for computer applications and preparing workpapers, trial balances, depreciation schedules and engagement correspondence.
- Some administrative functions such as scanning and entering data may be required
Intern positions are both challenging and rewarding and, with experience and supervision, individuals at this level can assume many of the responsibilities of staff accountants.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing B.S. in Accounting, including 150 credit hour education requirement or Master's degree
- Sophomore, Junior or Senior college level completion and individual income tax course
- Available to work approximately 15-20 hours per week including weekdays and Saturdays (mandatory) from January to April
- Intelligent, motivated, team player
- Trustworthy, dependable
- Willingness to develop accounting, auditing, tax and research knowledge
- Sound writing and communication skills
- Comfortable with multi-tasking, being responsible for multiple assignments and meeting deadlines
- Ability and willingness to learn
- Stable work history
